Many of you will already have seen the headlines - the worst winter snowstorms in decades have wreaked havoc in central and southern China just as millions are trying to make their way home to celebrate the Lunar New Year with their families. Dozens have frozen to death or perished in traffic accidents. Wide areas are without running water and electricity. Crops have been destroyed on a large scale. Greenhouses have collapsed. As animals freeze to death or starve, many farmers are losing their livestock. About 1.6 million people have been evacuated from affected areas.
As the snow continues to fall, those who are suffering urgently need your help. Love-in-Action has already started providing emergency aid in the form of quilts, rice and medicine to those who have been most seriously affected. Having traveled to Hunan and Guizhou, two of the hardest hit areas, Love-in-Action staffers are reporting on the latest developments and overseeing disaster relief efforts.
