China Business Watch focuses on resources for China Business, Internet business, make money online. Recently we’ve made a survey on making money blogging, that’s both bloggers and advertisers of making money blogs. So, it's a report on blogging making money: survey from bloggers and ddvertisers.
We try to cover many aspect of blogging, such as the themes of blogs; the relationship between blog themes and web traffic; product/service types of advertisers, the relationship between product/service types of advertisers and blog profit level; and advertisers’ feedback on advertisement effects.
Our sample is not very large, and our finding is in fact a bit rudimentary. There should be some historical data, which we lack, to adjust our test result for a more accurate reflection of reality. So we plan to carry out this kind of test every year. Here is our first report for your reference, and our finding is by no means final. And proceed with caution.
1. Web traffic is a very important factor in monetization and profit. Blogs with little traffic will not make as much money as blogs with a lot of traffic, even if conversion ratios differ.
2．The niche you choose affects how much money you will eventually make. With a niche-focused business, your competition will be lower and it will be
easier for targeted, interested visitors to find your Web site. Some niches are almost inherently easier to monetize. (Tech>Humor)
3. Highly unique blogs with interesting topics can become profitable and popular very quickly.
4. Lucrative blog niches with a large potential audience are tech, humor and celebrity culture.
5.Metablogging (blogging about blogging) will not make you a lot of money unless you are exceptionally good at it.
6 .We are finding that advertisers are not willing to buy traffic from Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Egypt, and Romania.
